Yugapurushan is a 2010 film about the life and times of Sree Narayana Guru. The movie is directed by R. Sukumaran, who has previously directed Rajashilpi and Padamudhra, both of which were critically acclaimed films. The film has an ensemble cast.Thalaivasal Vijay dons the role of Sree Naryana Guru the 20th century saint of Kerala , India. The magnum opus was in the making for more than fifteen years according to the director R.Sukumaran. Over 2000 hand drawn images constitute the story board. Actor Mohanlal was initially considered to portray Swami Vivekananda but later that part was deleted from the story. The cast includes some of the best in the Malayalam Movie Industry. Mammootty plays K.C.Kuttan an almost rebel who believes in putting the words of Sree Narayana Guru into action.

Narain injured on the sets

Narain has been injured on the sets of Thambi Kottai in Thanjavur and has been hospitalized.

The accident occurred on the sets of the film. A bridge costing nearly Rs 1 Crore has been put up by the art director and director Ammu Ramesh along with thousands of workers. The bridge is the pivot around which the story of the film revolves.

The bridge collapsed when a crucial part of the climax scene of the film was being shot. Narain fell down from the bridge, causing some injury.

The film has Poonam Bajwa in the female lead, while Prabhu plays a crucial role.

Padmapriya to feel butterflies

Padmapriya may not be a popular name in Telugu films though she made her debut with the Telugu film ‘Seenu Vasanthi Lakshmi’. But she became more popular in Tamil and Malayalam. Now she will be again seen in a Telugu film ‘Andari Banduvaya’ by Chandra Siddhartha. However, it is her Hindi release that makes her feel butterflies in stomach. ‘Striker’ is her first Hindi film in which she pairs opposite ‘Boys’ Siddharth.

In ‘Striker’ Siddharth plays a carrom player and Padmapriya is his romantic interest. Set to release in Hindi and Telugu on the 5th of February, the film is important for her as she hopes to bounce back in Telugu and make a strong entry in Hindi.

The actress with great acting potential is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. After ‘Thavamai Thavamirundhu’ she lost touch with Tamil audience.

Hope she strikes the right chords with her ‘Striker’ this time.

YRF launches new face with Anushka Sharma

Yash Raj Films is launching newcomer Ranveer Singh opposite Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi actress Anushka Sharma in their next project.

The film will be directed by Maneesh Sharma, who worked as an assistant director on Shah Rukh Khan starrer Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Aditya Chopra will produce the untitled venture.

The shooting has started and it is scheduled for a release later this year.

The story revolves around Shruti (Anushka Sharma) and Bittoo (Ranveer Singh) who start a business after passing out from Delhi University. Their friendship and business enters the lavish world of Delhi's baaraats and weddings.

Maneesh had also assisted on other Yash Raj projects like Fanaa and Aaja Nachle.

‘Rajavinte Makan’ for a remake

After the success of MT-Laljose team's ‘Neelathamara’, it seems Mohanlal is also bitten by the bug of remaking old hits. The film which catapulted Mohanlal to superstardom ‘Rajavaninte Makan’ will be soon remade in Malayalam. The makers of the original movie, its director Thampi Kannanthanam and script writer Dennis Joseph has been called on for the discussion by Mohanlal's man Friday Antony Perumbavoor.

As per the latest reposrts the team has agreed to go in for a remake, rather than a sequel. The project to be produced by Ashirwad Cinema will also feature Suresh Gopi in the prominent role that he played in the original. It may be noted Suresh Gopi also came to limelight with this movie.

Pooja for the new movie is on the 16th of July, the date on which the original movie was released 25 years ago.

Reportedly, Ash is being lavished with a whopping 10 crores! The venture produced by Bobby Pushkarna ('Page3') will spotlight the international icon in a realistic opus along the lines of 'Provoked.'

A close insider states that Pushkarna has been chasing Rai for close to three months, valiantly asserting that if the Bachchan bahu turns down his proposal...he will scrap the project. Period.

Rai has three projects in her kitty: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Guzaarish', Vipul Shah's 'Action Replay' and Shankar's 'Robot.' And a reliable source avers that she's scanning the script before voicing her decision. Ash per her wish.

 

Emma Watson is Hollywood's highest paid actress

Los Angeles, Feb 5 (PTI) ''Harry Potter'' star Emma Watson has emerged as the highest paid actress in Hollywood in a new list compiled by a magazine. The 19-year-old actress has been raked ahead of established stars such as Cameron Diaz, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston on the list by Vanity Fair.

Watson''s income was put at USD 30 million in the list of Hollywood''s top 40 earners compiled by the magazine, as she was paid USD 15 million each for the ''Harry Potter'' series, ''The Deathly Hallows I and II''. She took the 14th position in the overall table and is the youngest person, male or female, to appear.

Two other Harry Potter stars, Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe, also feature on the list. Grint comes right after Watson with the 15th position in the overall list, while Radcliffe has taken the sixth place with an income of USD 41 million.

The top five in a total of 40 names were of leading directors in Hollywood starting off with Michael Bay. Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg took the second place, followed by Roland Emmerich and James Cameron.

''Hangover'' director Todd Philips came in the fifth position. After Watson, Diaz was the second female to feature on the list with an income of USD 27 million, followed by ''Sex and the City'' star Sarah Jessica Parker who earned USD 24 million in 2009.

Actor Cochin Haneefa died at 3.30 pm today. He was suffering from Liver Cancer and was admitted in Sree Rama Chandra Medical Center, Chennai recently.

He (Salim Ahmed Ghoush)is an Indian film actor, director, and screenwriter. He started his career in the 1970's as a villain and turned to be one of the popular comedians of Malayalam film industry. He has done more than 300 films in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi films. As a filmmaker he is known for the melodrama Valtsalyam (1993).

Genelia to endorse fairness cream

Bollywood actress Genelia D’Souza, who shot to fame with “Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na”, has joined Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor in signing up as the face of a fairness cream brand.

She will now endorse Garnier’s new product Garnier Light, said a press release from the firm.

Deepika is the brand ambassador of Johnson & Johnson’s new fairness cream Neutrogena Fine Fairness, while Bollywood hunk John Abraham endorses Garnier Men fairness cream. Sonam Kapoor is the face of L’Oreal white perfect and last year Katrina Kaif was signed up as the face for Olay’s skin whitening
cream.

Actresses like Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu have spoken against fairness creams as they feel it generates discrimination on the basis of skin colour.

No four-letter word for Vidya Balan!

Vidya Balan who plays the scorching hot village belle in Vishal Bhardwaj’s “Ishqiya’ has mouthed quite a few expletives in the movie. Well if it is to be a Vishal Bhardwaj film then a few slip in the tongue and spicy rustic language is to be expected here and there, but apparently Vidya, who plays the character called Krishna in Vishal’s production was in for a shock when she realized that she has to say ch-ya more often than she thought of!

The “Parineeta’ actress recalls, “It is quite natural for a girl like Krishna who comes from a very aggressive background to use abusive language,” but she confesses, “As Vidya I am hesitant to use abusive language. During reading sessions I would say CSO4 because I was uncomfortable saying it out loud, but luckily I opened up in front of the camera.”

Vidya who is born and brought up in a typical south Indian Iyer family laughs, “South Indians don’t even know Hindi so how will they know Hindi gallis (expletives)!”

Also, Vidya is averse to people who use abusive language she says, “Once my director shouted and used foul language after that I just couldn’t do my shot.”

Looks like potty mouths hold no charm for Vidya Balan!

Ajith’s ASAL gets U/A certificate

Ajith Kumar’s “ASAL’ will now have a pre-poned release on February 5 as the producers have confirmed the new release dates. The members of Censor Board watched the film recently and have passed it with “U/A’ certificate for its “violence quotients’. It seems that the members have insisted Saran to replace few shots so as to obtain clean “U’ certificate.

Nonetheless, it doesn’t seem to be a possibility as Saran has no intentions of replacing those shots. Earlier, plans were made to release the film on Valentine’s Day weekend (Feb 12), but due to random releases in the following weeks, the producers have preponed the release.

“ASAL’ brings back Ajith Kumar and director Saran for the fourth time followed by grand successes of “Kadhal Mannan’, “Amarkalam’ and “Attagasam’. Musical score by Bharadwaj has already become sensational hits in audio markets.

Madhavan turns professor in Teen Patti!

R Madhavan has got reasons to smile. After the super success of “3 Idiots’, he is all set to bounce back with yet another big film titled “Teen Patti’. R. Madhavan is thrilled about the new character he dons in the film.

Madhavan excitedly informs, “I have graduated from a student in “3 Idiots’ to a professor in “Teen Patti’. The film is based on a fresh and different concept which falls under the category of a hard-core masala film.”

He goes on to add, “As far as the story is concerned, it’s about greed, lust and money. It also showcases the reality of how youngsters today give up anything to make a quick buck. In a nutshell the story narrates on what happens when they start living life on edge.”

Apart from R. Madhavan “Teen Patti’ also boasts of Amitabh Bachchan
, Ben Kingsley and Raima Sen in lead roles. The film is directed by Leena Yadav and is slated to release on February 26, 2010.
